The Hotel

It has already been a Benedictine monastery in the sixteenth century and even a noble family’s residency in the early twentieth century, but it was Ruggero Valentini who transformed it in the holyday paradise of the stars and millionaires. From Marlon Brando to the singer Rihanna, many international icons have already surrendered and still surrender to Belmond Hotel Splendido’s charms.

The Splendido Portofino Hotel is a refugee suspended above the sea, a classical boutique hotel with breathtaking views, restaurants, glamour and everything that reflects the casual Portofino lifestyle. The true dolce vita symbol!

Suites

The Splendido Hotel has 35 suites furnished with class and sophistication, all with balconies that lean over the sea creating the perfect landscape. All the rooms are spacious, mixing marble with antiques causing that timeless sensation.

Presidential Suite – For two people (double or twin beds)

The latest in luxury. This suite was recently rebuilt and has its own terrace with a magnificent view to the Baia di Portofino and to the Golfo del Tigullio. Elegantly decorated in pastel tones, art pieces and sculptures reflecting the Mediterranean charms. Moreover, it has been redecorated with the tromp l’oeil technique – artisanal paintings that use perspective tricks creating thus optical illusions.

Dolce Vita Suite – For two people (double or twin beds)

At the top of a greenish hill, the recently constructed Dolce Vita suite offers luxury with extreme privacy. Its interiors are elegant, decorated in pastel shades complementing thus the panoramic views above the Baia di Portofino. There are two marble bathrooms and a big garden with lounge chairs, perfect to eyewitness one of the best Italian sunsets.

Amenities

The wide marble toilet offers Bvlgari cosmetics, bathrobes and soft towels that will provide you all the comfort.

Gastronomy

All trips to Italy request a gastronomic immersion. The richness of their flavors and ingredients are mouthwatering! That is exactly what La Terrazza restaurant proposes. There you can savor the original Italian dishes and the Linguria originals (tip: try the delicious Ligurian linguine al pesto), while admiring the stunning view above the bay. The terrace offers an easygoing ambience while the indoor restaurant has more of a formal atmosphere with the hand painted walls, wide wooden planks on the floor and a regional specialties’ menu. Simply charming!

During the European spring, summer and autumn you can sit outdoors at the Poolside restaurant and taste a delicious lunch, besides the appetizers, local dishes and the pizza. Our favorite Poolside dish is the Spaghetti alla Elizabeth Taylor, traditional and tasteful! The patio’s chaise longues keep the atmosphere informal. You can go for a swim in the pool or simply admire the Portofino landscape.

The cocktail bar has a black and white marble floor that contrasts with the hand painted walls, creating thus the perfect setting for a drink with your friends. The comfortable armchairs invite the guests for a happy hour accompanied by the sounds of the piano.

O Cocktail Bar tem piso em mármore preto e branco e contrasta com as paredes pintadas à mão, criando um ambiente perfeito para um drinque com os amigos. As confortáveis poltronas convidam os hóspedes para um happy hour ao som do piano.

Leisure

The hotel’s spa offers an impressive range of face and body treatments using the French cosmetics’ brand Maria Galland. At the spa or at some special areas specially created in the hotel’s gardens you can practice yoga, Pilates or even enjoy an outdoors massage with views to the bay.

If you are traveling with the kids, they will love the Club Splendido where there are animated screens and a lot of fun!

The hotel also offers activities for all tastes: heated pool (and an impressive saltwater pool too!) and tennis courts, where you can schedule tennis lessons.

Do you want to explore Portofino more closely?  The hotel can arrange for you bike tours, yacht rentals, sunset cruises, horse rides and scuba diving (guests can be part of a unique Scuba Diving program).

The famous Clube de Golfe de Rapallo, one of the oldest in Italy is also unmissable, as well as a swim in Paraggi where the mansions of Dolce & Gabbana and Pier Silvio Berlusconi can be seen.

Location

The Portofino’s port, at the Ligurian Sea is one of the prettiest in Europe. The city has already been a fisher villa but lately its waters only get the visits of glamorous yachts. The city and the port look essentially the same since the thirties what has led to an enchanting atmosphere, the perfect paradise for those who appreciate the best in life: haute cuisine, excellent wines, boat rides and luxury shopping.
