Built by the famous architect Charles Robert Ashbee as a gift to a friend to afterwards be renewed (its original materials and furniture were kept) and transformed in a hotel, The Ashbee pays tribute to two cultures, the British and the Italian combining typical Greek-Sicilian architectural elements.

The Ashbee is the perfect refugee for couples that desire to relax in a luxurious but laid-back location and at the same time, enjoy shopping facilities, restaurants, bars and cultural attractions.

Suites

The roomy suites are all unique and extraordinary with details that make the difference. Cozy and nicely decorated, they are a mixture of the Sicilian vintage with traditional elegance. They are like a dream for the most demanding of all guests.

Our favorites are:

Ashbee Suite – For 2 people (king size bed)

Ashbee Suite is the real jewel of the hotel. It is the biggest and most luxurious suite, charming in every detail with its floor all covered with parquet. It has a terrace with views to the sea, big closets, two bathrooms with a marble sink and a bathtub.

Montgomery Suite – For two people (king size bed)

The living room of the Montgomery Suite has a circular window and snug sofas so that you can enjoy the marvelous view that is partially garden, partially above the sea. The big living room also have a stone fireplace and British furniture.

SPA suite – For two people (king size bed)

An elegant and roomy suite. This suite is for you to relax and fully enjoy the “Ashbee Experience”, be it through the exclusive sauna or through the emotional douche. A living room with a stylish sofa, a comfortable bed and a bathroom with a Whirlpool bath will complement your experience.

Gastronomy

The breakfast at Ashbee is a real delight. You can savor it at the St. George restaurant where the décor includes striped wallpaper complemented by red glass chandeliers or you can sit in the external terrace. The buffet reflects the fusion of the Sicilian and the British cuisines: a vast fruit buffet, delicious cakes, yogurts, oatmeal, cheeses and cold cuts besides the à la carte options such as eggs and crunchy bacon.

At night, the elegant St. George opens again offering the true taste of the Mediterranean in an indoor location with strong British features or you can head to the beautiful terrace where you will enjoy a delightful see view. Do not miss the leek cannelloni with a reduction of Nero d'Avola wine and the vegetables terrine with the pecorino cheese fondue. Close the evening with a chocolate soufflé with orange cream and you will be in paradise!

The Pool Club, the terrace and hotel surroundings

During the day, drinks and light meals are available at the pool in the Pool Club or through room service. The mojito is a big success, prepared with fresh mint leaves! When the sun goes down, the terrace becomes an idyllic spot for a glass of prosecco, served with delicious canapés and almonds sprinkled with paprika.

There are many options of restaurants nearby, too. Across the street, Al Melograno serves local cuisine in a romantic candlelight ambience and spread along the city streets, you will find pizzerias, trattorias and bars many with terraces overlooking the bay.

Leisure

Located in between the gardens with excellent views of the Ionian Sea coast, the enchanting pool area is perfect for appreciating the Sicilian sun while enjoying a drink at the Pool Club.

However, in case you are really willing to explore the region, the hotel team is available to help you arrange tours and to help you buying spectacles tickets to shows and museums. Speaking of which, The Ashbee sometimes exhibit some valuable works of art in a partnership with festivals and expositions.

A tour no one should miss is the visit to the Teatro Greco-Romano, which is only a hundred meters from the hotel. It stands above the bay, with an incredible view of Mount Etna.

Shops, galleries, cafes and many other points of interest are just steps from the hotel.

Location

The Ashbee is located in the center, providing thus easy access to the Taormina cultural attractions.

It is a very cosmopolitan city with excellent shops, designer boutiques, restaurants and cafes that line in the cobblestone streets and alleys just above the picturesque beaches.

The Ashbee stands 150 meters from the Corso Umberto and 700 meters from the Greek Theatre in the Taormina city, on the north east coast of Sicily. It is also close to the chairlift that accesses the beach at the Isola Bella Bay located beneath the city.
